New Week- Something Personal

Happy Monday, everyone! First off, I’d like to apologize for my absence from blogging for the last two weeks for I have been traveling- what an experience! Secondly, I’d like to dedicate this post to the single moms… Especially my sister. Many single moms feel like they’re not thought about, or that people aren’t there for them. But I’m here to tell you you’re wrong. The people who love you think about you every day and want to make sure you’re holding up okay. Because we, the people who love you, know that you have the hardest, most rewarding job in the world. Talk about motivation Monday! Motivation to get up every morning (especially 3 in the morning) and support the life of yourself and your child. Granted, times are hard and you wish you had someone there to help you. But you know what? All of the hard work you are doing right now, all of the struggling, the sadness, and stress you’re going through at this time in your life is all for something great- the greatness of your child’s future. You’re appreciated and acknowledged for your hard work. And one day, your child is going to see that his/her mother did everything in their power to give them the best life possible. First day of school, graduation day, their wedding day, all of their birthdays… It’s MOM who made it all possible. And at that moment, when your child realizes you’re their superhero, you’ll realize that all of your struggles will have been worth it. So stick through it to reach that point and know you’re not alone- with this new life you’ve brought into this world, you’ll never be alone again.

Katie, I love you, and I’m so proud of you. Brooklyn is such a lucky girl to have such a hard working mom like you. Smile, be happy, and love life so that she can grow up to be as beautiful as you. Thank you for making me such a lucky aunt, and most importantly, a lucky sister.

New Week- Different Lifestyle

Living a different lifestyle for a bit can change your view about everything. Put yourself in someone else’s shoes for a change. Not all places are the same. Some places don’t use the internet as much as others. Some places less is more, and the simple life is a happy life. Travel and explore. Get out of your comfort zone and try new things. It’s the experiences you come across that make you reflect and help you choose the life you truly want to live. Get out. Have fun. Live a different lifestyle.

New Week- Simplicity

We always search deep within our lives to find the things that make us happy when it’s really all so simple. We confuse situations and stress ourselves out over things that could all be so simple. Not all things are meant to be analyzed. Some things are meant to be lived in the moment and spontaneously. And other things shouldn’t take reviewing and convincing. If it feels wrong from the beginning, you probably shouldn’t do it. So stop convincing yourself that it could work or that one day it might be possible. Trust yourself. This is your one life to life, so live it freely and happily.

New Week- Positive People

Sometimes life seems unfair. But it’s not life that’s unfair, it’s about what you do with your life and who you surround yourself with. There are going to be people who come into your life and will either make you love it or hate you. But you’re the one who gets to pick and choose which ones stay. So, choose wisely. You deserve happiness just as much as any other person in this world. Surround yourself with positive energy and adventurous, fun, loving people. Because with people like this in your life, I guarantee life will play in your favor.

New Week- First Week of Summer

Granted, summer is supposed to be a “vacation” and a time to relax. But, let’s face reality… We’re not in high school anymore. This isn’t the little 3 month break you get between Junior and Senior year; this is real life. I’m not saying because you’ve entered adulthood that you can’t go out and have fun during summer. What I’m saying is have fun, but be responsible. You need to know how to balance the two. As sucky as it may be, “summer break” doesn’t come around once you’ve graduated and entered the real world. There are going to be times when the weather is absolutely perfect for the beach, but you have to go to work. And you know what? That’s okay. Because all of the hard work you’re putting into your life now is going to pay off. And then you won’t have to wish to have a day off to go to the beach; you’ll be able to take a week(s) off for vacation… Because you’ve earned it.

Just remember that summer doesn’t necessarily mean it’s time for fun for everyone. Because if you work hard, you’ll get “summer vacation” get-aways all year round.

New Week- Choose Your Happiness

We do realize that we control our own happiness, right? If we don’t like something then we have the power to change it. So why do we act like we’re stuck? Maybe because we’re comfortable, may it’s because we care too much? For me, I don’t know. I can’t figure that part out. I’m so focused on trying to make other people happy, that I get side tracked on what makes me happy. Sure, I’m happy for a little while, and then I seem to forget that this is MY life too. If I’m not being treated how I want to in a situation, I need to learn to remove myself from the equation. Life is only given to us once, so why do we sit and dwell on something that will not be changed? You might not be happy, but the world still goes on. You might die, but the world is still going to go on. I don’t want to be on my death bed wishing that I had done something different about the situations I’ve been in throughout my life. I want to look back at everything and think, “I made the right choices. I wouldn’t have lived my life any other way. I wish I could go back and simply relive it, and not change a thing” …. And you should feel the same way too.

New Week- Keep it Movin’

Life is too beautiful to sit and dwell about mistakes we’ve made. Sure, they weren’t smart, but they happened. What are you going to do? You can’t go back in time and change what happened, but you can learn from it and move forward. No one is perfect, and honestly, thank God for that. How boring would life be if there were perfect people? It’s crazy to say, but it’s the mistakes we make and the experiences we encounter that make it life. Bad relationships, bad friendships, bad choices in our careers- these are all things that are going to shape us to who we want to be. So, when you’ve put yourself (yes, you did it to yourself) in a sh*tty situation, don’t think so negative about it. Because this might be something that was meant to happen, and something better is going to come of it. Be optimistic, live in the now, and appreciate the things you have and not the things you’ve lost.

New Week- Friend Tips

So, for some strange reason, I’m that friend people go to for help. Why do I say “strange reason?” Well, because I’m also that friend that never takes their own advice. Sure, I know what to say and when to say it to comfort someone, but I can never apply that advice to myself. I think there is just some part of us that wants to help and be there for other people. Like I’ve said before, I’m that person that puts others before myself. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. It’s in our nature to be the shoulder to cry on for the people we love, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But there needs to come a time in our lives when we stop for a second and listen to ourselves. Listen to what we’re telling our friends. Because they’re not just words of comfort, part of what we’re saying is the truth and we know it. So why won’t we listen to what we’re saying? Life is what you make of it. Show some consistency to yourself, and take your own advice once in a while- make your life a little easier.

New Week- Stay Strong

This weekend I attended a baby shower. A shower for a mother who is already doing everything on her own. As sad as that sounds, in today’s world, that’s very common. And I’m not saying dad’s are never around and women have to do it all alone. Because sometimes it’s the opposite; some women don’t want to be mothers when the baby is finally here. Anyway, as I watched her glow in her happiness, I realized that even though it’s hard as a single parent, it seems like it’s double the reward and happiness. As a single parent, you get double the love, double the attention, and double the strength. Sure, there are going to be times you wish you had someone to help you, someone to take turns with changing the dirty diapers, and the crying; But, at the end of the day, as you sit there and reflect how much love and happiness being a parent brings you, you’re going to thank that other person for not being around. This chapter in your life has brought you more strength, more happiness, more wisdom, and more love. So to those who are struggling, or those who know someone who is struggling with being a single parent, rub some dirt in it, chin up, stay strong, and cherish the moments… because this is the greatest gift you’ll ever receive.

New Week- Love

Love everything. Love your life, love yourself, love your surroundings, love it all. Do whatever it is that you want to do in life, and love it. There is no one who is going to stop you and tell you that you can’t. And if there is someone that will do that to you, then you need to reevaluate who you associate yourself with. Be around people that are going to make you want to do and be a better person. Love these people and love yourself for who you are. I’ve realized that life is short, and you shouldn’t sit around and hate the things in your life and be bitter about how your life is heading, because whether you believe it or not you can change it and make it better. For me, I live everyday happy. I have a loving family, a loving support system, and I love what I do and who I am and I’m thankful for the people that have influenced and pushed me in life- allowing me to be where I am today. I know now that at any moment we could be taken from where we are in life, so I want my life here on Earth to be all I’ve ever dreamed of and more.

I’d just like to take a moment and thank anyone who has ever influenced me; by doing good and even the bad. Sometimes, it takes a sh*tty situation to make us wake up and realize that we want better for ourselves. So, thank you to everyone…. I am who I am and I love it, and so should you.
