Not sure which college Asher Roth attended when he wrote his song, “I Love College,” because, man, my college experience is nothing like his song.
Sometimes it’s hard and you get discouraged as an adult still attending college. I find myself 6 years down the road and barely considered a college junior. From community college to transferring to a university, my life seems be moving at such a slow pace. Sometimes I question my paths and sometimes I want to give up. I think about how hard I’ve worked to make my parents proud, until I finally realize I need to do this for myself. I live a life full of obstacles and roller coaster emotions but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. And as many times as I continue to fall, I will always pick myself back up until I’ve reached that finish line.

The 20’s.
There’s no such thing as being too young to think or envision your future. Be smart and wise, and think ahead. Plan ahead. Want more. People think that because you’re in your early 20’s you’re too young to be in love, too young to know what you want, too young to start you’re real life… But they’re wrong. 20’s are the years to figure yourself out. 20’s are the years to make your mistakes, and start making the right choices. Make it happen. Prove the world wrong. Be the 20 year old that’s not expected. It’s okay to be different. It’s okay to start your life early. No such thing as too young or too old in this world… Go to college at 50. Think about what kind of house you want, or how many children you want at 20. If you’re thinking about it, and can see it, it can happen; so make it happen. Don’t listen to what people say, what people are thinking, or how YOUR actions make THEM feel. Do what you want, think how you want, and worry about how your actions make you feel.
The Twenties
It’s easy to get lost in the world, trying to find where you belong. However, accept the challenges and journeys throughout life… For those are the steps that will lead you in the right direction. Embrace and take life by the horns. Follow your dreams, yet try new things. Nows the time in your life to be selfish and live for yourself. You’re old enough to know right from wrong. Yet young enough to have a little fun and excitement in your life. Do it all, and be it all.
To Each Their Own
So, we’ve passed another holiday. And the more holidays and years that pass, I realize that my life has changed so much. Sure, I’m in my early 20’s and should be living adventurously and being wild and free, but I’m not (at least not wildly). And I like it that way. I can have adventures without needing alcohol to do the trick. I like that I don’t have to find excusing or reasons to go out and drink. There is nothing wrong with drinking, but I think people need to do it more responsibly. If you’re out of high school, you should not dedicate your weekends to drinking and recuperating. But, to each their own. Some people find it fun, and some people are just over it. To me, it doesn’t bother me, it’s just interesting to see how some things change so much, and then some things just don’t change at all. Life as we know it.
